Therefore, when choosing laser glasses for IPL treatments, it’s not effective to shop based on the operating wavelength of the laser. Instead, it’s essential to select laser glasses specifically designed for IPL procedures. 

These glasses are rated for IPL and offer optimal protection against the intense pulsed light used in these treatments. It is crucial to use the appropriate grade of laser glasses when performing IPL procedures to ensure the safety of both the operator and the patient. 

In other words, the grade of laser glasses you should wear when using intense pulse light lasers should be ones rated for IPL. The IPL Brown laser safety lens utilizes a polycarbonate brown tint lens that provides specific IPL laser protection. These lenses have a visible light transmission rate of 11%. Moreover, the IPL Brown laser safety lens adheres to the safety standards of ANSI Z87+ and ANSI Z136.1.

It’s important to note that IPL glasses should be worn at all times while the laser is in use, not just by the operator but also by the patient. Additionally, IPL glasses should fit snugly around the eyes to ensure that no light can enter through the sides or top of the glasses.

While IPL glasses are crucial for protecting the eyes during IPL procedures only, it’s important to assess the risks of each procedure and to choose the appropriate protective equipment accordingly.
